CITY OF ESSEXVILLE, MI

Anaerobic digester cleaner, dewatering and landfill application

BioTech Agronomics was contracted by the City of Essexville to remove approximately 500,000 gallons of contaminated biosolids that could not meet MDEQ land application criteria from the City's anaerobic digester. BioTech Agronomics mobilized a one meter, skid mounted portable belt filter press for dewatering of the biosolids. Our operators belt pressed and transported the filter cake to a sanitary landfill in Saginaw. The anaerobic digester had not been cleaned in over seven years and had approximately five feet of sand deposited in the bottom.

Consequently, we secured the appropriate confined space entry permits, evaluated and addressed all identified hazards and entered the digester. Utilizing our submersible chopper pump and booster system and fire hose, we efficiently removed all accumulated sand, silt and sludge and disposed approximately 250 tons of filter cake.
