SOUTH HURON VALLEY UTILITY AUTHORITY

Biosolids removal and land application

BioTech Agronomics provided comprehensive biosolids management services for Earth Tech, the contract operator of the SHVUA WWTP. Prior to Earth Tech's involvement, the SHVUA WWTP facility was owned and operated by Wayne County. The biosolids were transported to the Wayne County-Wyondotte WWTP and incinerated. Earth Tech in partnership with BioTech Agronomics developed and implemented a comprehensive land application program. An eight (8) million gallon storage tank was erected and lime stabilization facilities were constructed to achieve pathogen reduction. BioTech Agronomics' land management staff has developed over 4000 acres of agricultural land in this program.

BioTech Agronomics land applied approximately 3,500 dry tons per year from this facility. This program has resulted in an overall savings of over $100,000 per year for the Authority.
